How much does Breakthrough Maths cost?

How much does Breakthrough Maths cost

The first question a lot of people ask me is:

“How much does Breakthrough Maths cost?”

I think people under-appreciate how much value we actually deliver. In this article I break down what services we provide, why it’s better than Grinds, and how much it ultimately costs per class and per month.

Monthly Subscription

The first thing to note is Breakthrough Maths runs a monthly subscription. It’s €149 per month and for that students receive 16 classes each month. That breaks down to four classes every single week at the same time with the same tutor. Quick maths – that breaks down to about €9.30 per class. That is amazing value compared to a normal standard private one-to-one grind that costs €50 on average across Ireland.

For the price of three private one-to-one grinds you can get 16 grinds with Breakthrough Maths for the same amount of money.

We operate a monthly subscription so it’s easy for parents. They pay on the same date, same time every single month. There are no headaches with Breakthrough Maths. You sign up and we deliver value every single month.

On average most people will stay for about five to six months with Breakthrough Maths. Once they see their child improving it’s very easy to cancel. Just email our team and we take it from there. It’s a no-questions-asked policy for cancellation. We cancel immediately and you are not tied down to any contracts or binding agreements. That’s something I really hate and I think it’s unfair for people to have to be caught like that.

We’re straight up clear: you get what you pay for the classes you’re in for with us.

Is There a Lower Priced Option?

I am exploring offering a lower-tiered, lower-priced option for parents. As we are building on our platform and our technology, this would have restrictions on it versus what the full €149 package gives to students at the moment. Details will be announced later this year and it will give parents a choice of what they can sign up for.

Do you do 1-1 grinds?

We don’t do one-to-one grinds and we never will. We are simply not able to find the same value. We couldn’t do this for the same cost 1-1 and we’re able to deliver more value in our current setup. Our classes genuinely work. That’s why we have over 1,000 reviews across Trustpilot and Google.

This is my sixth year starting Breakthrough Maths this September and honestly it’s the best decision I’ve ever made: to have one teacher, group size classes, but to have built a system of testing, of focus just on the teacher with no distractions in the class. That has become really effective, incredible value for parents, and works for almost every single student who applies themselves to Breakthrough Maths.

Any Discounts?

I simply just don’t do discounts because we teach so many students at scale and the price is already incredible value. I just don’t apply discounts. I think if you’re not happy we will immediately cancel your subscription and you’re not caught for anything. The price is fair and already delivers incredible value!

What Do Parents Usually Compare?

When parents are looking at maths grinds, they usually compare three options:

  1. Private one-to-one grinds
  2. Small group grinds
  3. Online maths programmes

Private one-to-one grinds can be excellent. I actually delivered one-to-one maths grinds myself while studying in UCD and saw first-hand the impact they can have on students. The downside is cost. Most one-to-one grinds in Ireland cost somewhere between €40 and €60 per hour, while some experienced tutors and teachers charge considerably more.

Small group grinds sit somewhere in the middle. Students get access to a tutor and can ask questions, but the quality varies significantly depending on the provider.

Online programmes like Breakthrough Maths are different. Instead of paying for one hour at a time, students get consistent support every week, access to recordings, notes, worksheets, testing, and a structured programme that runs throughout the school year.

In my experience, consistency beats intensity. One grind before an exam rarely changes a student’s results. Four classes every week for months is where real improvement happens.

Why We Focus Only on Maths

A lot of education companies try to cover every subject.

We’ve deliberately taken a different approach.

For six years our entire focus has been maths. Every class, every worksheet, every tutor, every system we’ve built revolves around helping students improve their maths results.

I believe there is real value in specialisation. Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, we’ve chosen to focus on one subject and continually improve the experience for students studying that subject.

That focus is one of the reasons we now teach thousands of students and have accumulated over 1,000 reviews across Trustpilot and Google.
