Junior Cert Timetable 2027
Every year one of the first things students and parents search for is the Junior Cert timetable. Knowing exactly when each exam takes place makes it much easier to plan revision, organise study sessions and avoid leaving subjects until the last minute.
The timetable below is our predicted Junior Cert Timetable 2027. It is based on the examination scheduling used over recent years, where written examinations begin on the first Wednesday of June and follow a very similar order each year. While the official timetable is published by the State Examinations Commission (SEC), the sequence of subjects rarely changes significantly from one year to the next.
As soon as the official timetable is released, we’ll update this page.

When is the Junior Cert Timetable 2027 released?
The official Junior Cert Timetable 2027 is normally published by the State Examinations Commission several months before the exams begin, typically during the first part of the school year. Schools also distribute copies to students once it becomes available.
Until then, many students like to use a predicted timetable to begin organising their revision. Even if a date changes slightly, knowing the likely order of the exams helps you decide which subjects need the most attention first. When is the Leaving Cert Maths exams?
When is the Junior Cert maths exam?
Based on previous Junior Cycle examination timetables, the Junior cert Maths Paper will take place on Friday 11 June 2027 at 1:30pm.
For most students, Maths is one of the most important exams of the Junior Cert, so special attention will be given when revising.
How does the timetable work?
The Junior Cert usually starts on the first Wednesday in June, after the June Bank Holiday. S0 the 2027 Junior Cert exams will start on Wednesday the 9th of June.
Most Junior Cycle examination days have two examination sessions:
- Morning examinations begin at 9:30am
- Afternoon examinations begin at 1:30pm
Some students only have one examination on a particular day, while others may have both a morning and afternoon paper. The timetable is designed so that students studying different option subjects can complete all of their examinations over the examination period.
Candidates are also asked to arrive well before their first examination begins to allow time for seating and examination procedures.
Can I print the Junior Cert Timetable 2027?
Yes, I have made a printer-friendly version that you can download here.

Does the timetable include the Irish listening section?
Yes.
One question we get every year is whether students have to return for a separate Irish listening examination.
The published examination length already includes the aural (listening) component for Irish. On the timetable you’ll notice that the Irish paper is marked (including aural) on the Junior Cert Timetable 2027, meaning the listening element forms part of the scheduled examination time. The same applies to modern foreign language examinations such as French, German, Italian and Spanish that might have an aural component.
Does the Junior Cert have Higher and Ordinary Level?
Since the introduction of the new Junior Cycle, most written subjects are Common Level, meaning every student sits the same examination paper regardless of ability.
The main exceptions are:
- English
- Irish
- Maths
These subjects continue to have both Higher Level and Ordinary Level examinations. Most other written subjects, including History, Geography, Science, Business Studies, Home Economics, Engineering and Wood Technology, are examined at Common Level.
How to prep for the Junior Cert maths exam
For many students, Junior Cert Maths is one of the exams they worry about most.
At Breakthrough Maths, our revision programme is designed specifically around the Junior Cycle course. Students attend 4 live weekly classes, receive structured notes and worksheets, and complete regular testing on our platform so they know exactly which topics need the most attention before exam day.
The whole course is covered during the year, but the most important part is building confidence well before June arrives.
Night Before Exams Masterclass
One tradition we’ve built over the last few years is our Night Before Exams Masterclass.
It is a 2-hour intensive masterclasses to focus on the highest-priority topics. We break down high-mark questions and reveal the last-minute exam techniques that can make the difference between moving up a grade.
The Night Before Exams masterclass for Junior Cert Maths will run on Thursday June 3rd, 2027.
It is always our most popular course, mainly due to the fact we:
- revise the highest-value topics
- go through common mistakes
- cover exam technique
- answer students’ final questions before the exam.
It has become one of our most popular sessions every year and gives students a confidence boost heading into the following afternoon’s examination.
Notes and resources
Alongside our live maths grinds, students also receive access to free maths notes, worked examples and recordings of previous lessons. That means if a student misses a class or wants to revisit a difficult topic such as algebra, geometry or probability, they can go back and watch it again before the exam.
Consistency over the school year nearly always beats last-minute cramming.
Final thoughts
The Junior Cert can feel like a big milestone, but having a timetable early makes revision much more manageable. Use it to map out your study, focus on one subject at a time and avoid leaving Maths until the final week.
We’ll continue updating this page as more information becomes available and will replace our predicted timetable with the official Junior Cert Timetable 2027 once it is published by the State Examinations Commission. Until then, good luck with your revision, and if you need help with Maths, our weekly grinds, revision notes and Night Before the Exam Masterclass are all designed to help you feel as prepared as possible.
