Leaving Cert Maths Exam Papers

Since 2021, Students at Leaving Cert level have benefitted from a choice among the questions they answer. This is one of a couple of small changes to the curriculum between 2020 and 2023, but you can check out the full paper breakdown in our “Extra Resources” below.

Here, we’ve gathered the exam papers from previous years for you. Good luck!

Junior Cycle Maths Exam Papers

In 2022, the Junior Cycle replaced the Junior Certificate and this came with some big changes to the format of the exam.
For years prior to 2022, we’ve included both the Paper One and Paper Two elements, but do be aware that there is one paper only going forward.

This will contain both P1 and P2 topics, and full details can be found in our extra resources section below. This takes the pressure away from having two exams to worry about, although it does not make the exam easier or the content simpler to learn.

Junior Cycle Grading System – EXPLAINED!

I usually recommend exam papers to students who are getting ready to study for the state exams. Going through past exam papers will not only familiarise you with the exam, but it will also help you see which areas you’re struggling with very quickly. For example, if you attempt last years’ paper and are struggling with all of the algebra questions then you need to revise algebra as your next topic.

So, put the exam paper down and go to our YouTube channel (or look at our notes) until you have a greater understanding. Rinse and repeat this for every other topic and you’ll cover everything on the curriculum much faster.

Additionally, the exam papers are key to noticing the trends of topics that come up over the years. The state exams are all about repetition. For example, there may be certain topics that come up every single year, topics that haven’t come up in years, and topics that show up every second or third year. You can use this to your advantage when prioritising what to study.
