Why Our Junior Cert Grinds Work

Structured Learning

Every month is carefully planned in advance, with students covering two key topics each week. Parents receive the weekly teaching plan every Sunday, so everyone knows exactly what’s being covered.

All classes are held at the same time with the same tutor every Monday to Thursday. No surprises.

Track Progress

Most students don’t realise improvement until they sit an exam. We think that’s too late.

Our platform allows your child to assess their understanding beyond classes, identify weak topics early and see tangible progress. Both in-class testing and independent practice shows you a clear picture of their grade predictions.

Exam-Focused

Every class, test and resource is designed for exam success. Students gain access to mock masterclasses, full practice papers with video solutions and targeted masterclass, giving them the confidence and preparation needed to exceed their potential in Maths.

Exceptional Tutors

We invest heavily in tutor training and select teachers who can engage and motivate your child. Every lesson is designed to be energetic, interactive and easy to follow. Our tutors are highly-experienced in both maths and building our students’ confidence in maths week after week.

FAQ’s

What is the class format?

Our grinds are taught in groups.

The student can see and interact with only with the tutor. Your child can ask questions any time in the chat portal, and the tutor will address them throughout class.

We offer the flexibility to access any class each week. Each week we will be teaching two different topics, so your child has a choice in when they want to attend.

How long is a class?

Our Junior Cycle classes run for about 45 – 60 mins.

They’re students at the end of the day and school is already long enough, so we don’t expect them to focus for more than that length of time.

Do you accomodate to learning difficulties?

We’ve been teaching for years now and have dealt with hundreds of kids with learning difficulties. Don’t worry, our tutors are well-equipped to teach children of all learning abilities and levels.

We take our time with them and make sure they get the extra attention that they need.

How much is the Junior Cert grinds?

Junior Cert for 1st Year to 3rd Year grinds is €149 per month, and your child will have: 4 grinds per week + access to all recordings + access to all supplementary notes and resources.

For details visit our pricing page.

How do you measure my child’s progress?

We provide in-class testing to see how each student is coping with every topic. The results are available for you to view after each class.

What’s covered in class?

For 1st Year students, it can be daunting to move from Primary School into Secondary School so we take our time with them. We start where everyone should: Algebra. The building blocks. Get that right, and everything else starts to click. Then we move onto the other tricky topics like fractions, percentages, equations, area, volume, geometry.

2nd Year is where we get moving. We revisit algebra, but more challenging questions like expanding brackets, solving equations, and inequalities. Then we focus on co-ordinate geometry, functions, probability, and stats. We break it all down so it actually makes sense, building on what you know and pushing you forward every week. Confidence goes up. Results follow. That’s the goal.

We hit the ground running for the Junior Cycle. We start with revision of key topics, then diving into the tough stuff: simultaneous equations, theorems, functions, probability, and statistics. Every class is exam-focused, so they’re prepared for June. We teach you how to tackle tricky questions, and how to manage their time in the Junior Cycle Maths exam.

How do the CBAs work?

There are two Maths CBAs in Junior Cycle.

1) A project on a real-world maths problem completed in 2nd Year.
2) An investigation using data collected by the student in 3rd Year. Both are done in class and marked by your teacher.

Students find them pretty confusing so I’ve explained the grading system here.

Do you follow the school curriculum?

Yes, we do follow the Irish school curriculum across 1st Year to 3rd Year. Most schools do the same topic at the same time of the year. We match that teaching plan.

Does my child have access to recordings?

Yes, each class is recorded. Your child will receive access to our recordings folder upon enrolment. Every class is recorded and uploaded after the lesson. Rewatch classes anytime and catch up on anything they may have missed.

How do I cancel?

Send us an email at info@btmaths.com and we’ll cancel your subscription immediately.

See you in September
