Parent Reviews

Ruth Baker

My daughter is doing LC this year and struggled massively. After her 2nd class she said to me ‘Mam, I never knew it could be so simple once it was explained to me differently.’

James McAlister

Very good communication throughout. Our child found it much more engaging than school and made for better understanding of complex topics. Highly recommend.

Karen Grace

My son went from 28% in his mocks to a H3 in LC. Young, knowledgeable, approachable tutors. Excellent format ensures daily focus. Would recommend to anyone.

Topics We Teach

5th year higher level maths

For the Leaving Cert, we start with the basics of algebra like inequalities, factorising, and indices. These are critical must know topics for students.

Then we build from there week by week. Our program covers 2 different topics weekly. Usually, the harder topics like functions and co-ordinate geometry are taught later in the week.

This way, we can be sure to cover everything they need for their exams.

Monthly Maths Masterclasses

primary school maths help

Every one of our students gets a free masterclass – normally scheduled for the end of the month.

It’s usually the last Sunday of the month and it covers a complex topic like trigonometry. We also use these masterclasses to get students prepped for upcoming exam periods such as Christmas tests or the Mocks.

The masterclasses are usually between 90 mins to 2 hours. The aim for these masterclasses is to help students feel extremely confident in these important, major topics.

How 4 Classes a Week Works

primary school maths help

Each week, we run one class per day from Monday to Thursday. TY @ 7:30pm, 5th Year @ 7:30pm, LC HL @ 6:30pm, and LC OL @ 7:30pm.

We cover one topic on Monday and Tuesday and another topic on Wednesday and Thursday.

Most of our students go to 2 classes a week either on Monday or Tuesday and Wednesday or Thursday. That way, they get everything covered. But, if they’re struggling they can go to all 4 classes during the week.

“I loved that my tutor helped me grasp the Maths with real world examples.”

Proven Results

As you can see from a survey we sent to 250+ of our Leaving Cert students in 2025, 87% of them saw an increase in their grades after taking our classes. The most common results was a 2-grade increase.

We strive for that standard. Build the confidence and deliver results.

FAQ’s

Is it a 1-1 grind?

Your grind will feel like a 1-1 grind.

The student can only see the teacher. They interact only with the teacher. The teacher will talk to them regularly, both in the class and in the chat.

What if my child has a learning difficulty?

Don’t worry, our tutors are well-equipped to teach children of all learning abilities and levels.

We’ve been teaching for years now and have taught hundreds of kids with various learning needs. We take our time with them and make sure they get the extra attention that they need.

What’s the cost of the program?

The program costs €149 per month

How do you measure progress?

We provide in-class testing to see how each student is coping with every topic.

Your child’s results are available for you to view after each class and we will also provide you with regular updates via email/Whatsapp.

What age group do you teach?

We offer our Leaving Cert classes to students in 4th – 6th Year. This includes both Higher Level and Ordinary Level classes for 5th and 6th Year. For our 4th Year students, we begin the 5th Year curriculum with them so they can get ahead.

It doesn’t matter what their maths ability is or how many topics they’re struggling with, we’ll help them out.

How long is each class?

Our Leaving Cert classes run for about 45-60 mins.

They’re students at the end of the day and school is already long enough, so we don’t expect them to focus for more than that length of time.

Sample notes and worksheets?

At Breakthrough Maths, we have an abundance of sample notes for all levels, years, and topics. Check out some of our Leaving Cert notes that go over the key Leaving Cert Maths topics.

Our students receive Leaving Cert worksheets every week. Check out some of our Leaving Cert Worksheet Problems that go over Inequalities.

Do you follow the Leaving Cert curriculum?

Yes, we do. Most schools do the same topic at the same time of the year. We match that teaching plan.

What’s unique about our system is the fact that we offer unlimited classes each week. Each week we will be teaching two different topics. So you have choice in what you would like to study.

What do I need to know for the LC?

There’s a lot to know about the Leaving Cert. With the framework of subjects taught, assessments, grading system, CAO, and different levels, it can seem overwhelming.

I’ve gone and broken down what you need to know in each paper. Here’s all you need to know about paper 1 and paper 2.

What’s covered in class?

The goal of the 4th year course is to set our students up with a headstart to understand and excel in 5th year. We’re all about building confidence – our classes are designed to get you exam-ready. On top of your 4 weekly sessions, we have monthly masterclass to sharpen up for big tests, like the Mocks or Christmas exams. No extra charge, it’s all part of the plan.

In 5th Year, we cover over 60% of the content on the Leaving Cert Higher Level exam. We teach all the topics associated with paper 1 and some of paper 2. Our classes are designed with the goal of getting you ready for the state exams. Alongside your 4 weekly sessions, you’ll also get a monthly masterclass focused on revision or exam prep.

In 6th Year, we cover over 75% of the whole Leaving Cert course in our grinds. Our classes are exam-focused so we’ll prepare you for the state exams. Alongside the 4 weekly classes, we provide a monthly masterclass to help revise a certain topic or prepare for an exam.

Are the classes recorded?

Yes, each class is recorded. Access to the recordings is sent out at the end of the week

How do I cancel?

Send us an email at tj@btmaths.com and we’ll cancel your subscription immediately.
