How Does The Breakthrough Maths System Work?

Our campus offers students their own platform, tailored to them. Live Classes, Worksheets, and Tutorials are accessible in one place. The student account is created before the first lesson, and this is where the student goes to every week.

What Is Included With Our Grinds?

Our system includes a 1-hour class, weekly notes, and access to SupportSapp, our service for specific Maths problems. Our online campus offers Live Classes and Testing, with individual tracking for each student.

What Is The Cost Of Each Class?

The first class is free to try. It costs €149 a month thereafter, which is €38/grind. Students receive a live class each week. Payment is taken via direct Debit each month, with a full refund option for advanced payments if canceled.

What Size Are The Classes?

Classes are small, with students grouped by ability. Our testing system identifies students who are struggling and moves them to a more suitable class.

Are The Classes In Person?

No, the classes are always online.

What Topics Do You Cover In Class?

Each class/year has a specific curriculum. We start with Algebra for secondary school students and focus on problem-solving and basics of numbers for primary school students. Our curriculum is made by qualified teachers and state examiners.

How Long Are The Classes?

Our classes are 50 minutes long.

Do You Do 1-1 Grinds?

We do not offer 1-1 grinds, but our SupportSapp system is designed for 1-1 help where needed. Students can send questions or tests they struggle with, and we respond with a video solution.

Do I Need To Download Zoom?

Downloading Zoom is not a requirement, as we use our platform. The link is sent upon signup.

How Do I Use SupportSapp?

Use this link to upload your question and we will respond within 24 hours.

Are There Any Book Or Exam Paper Requirements?

No specific books or exam papers are required. All you need is a copy and a pen.

Teaching, Through Testing

We teach students from 3rd class to 6th year. We focus on teaching through testing.

Students complete 10 to 15 questions in class. We track progress and text you their results.

How Breakthrough Maths Works

No Travelling

Our online classes means no travelling after school! So much time is wasted getting to and from grinds whether you’re walking across the city or stuck in traffic for hours. With us, you can go straight home after school and do the class in comfort.

Personalised Testing

We focus on testing, not lecturing. It’s all sbout active practice. We can see where students are struggling and give personalised feedback.

That’s so important. It allows us to measure tangible outcomes and prep students for tests.

4 Classes Per Week

A game changer. As our lessons are online, we have the ability to offer students 4 classes each week.

Every week, we will cover x2 Maths topics. That means we get a lot more covered in our program. Over a number of weeks, we start to see students progressing.

Timothy Buckley

Tim is our primary school tutor. He is a fully qualified teacher, having previously had a career in Finance. Tim is an avid GAA man, coaching local teams and running Cúl camps. The students love his calm, easy style of tutoring.

We have selected tutors based on their ability to be engaging. It starts there.

Keeping a child focussed for 50 to 55 minutes is the first step.

We ensure our tutors come from Maths backgrounds in college and that they enjoy teaching Maths. They work with us 4 days each week. That commitment and consistency in class is really important.

How do I contact Breakthrough Maths?

We have a team working from 9am-9pm, 7 days a week.

Do you teach 2 topics per week?

We cover 2 different topics each week, and students choose which ones to focus on.

Every Sunday, you’ll receive a text with the week’s plan. One topic will be more advanced, and we’ll clearly indicate which one. This method ensures we cater to students of all abilities.

How do unlimited classes work?

A big benefit of our classes is the fact you can join any of the 4 classes we have on, Mon-Thursday. And everything is recorded too.

For example, for 3rd year students, class is at 6:30pm Mon-Thurs. Join any class, any evening!

The fact that we cover 2 topics per week means that you can really push your learning in Maths.

What’s unique about the grinds?

Our platform tailors to your child. We’ll be with them every step of the way through our live Classes, worksheets and notes, all accessible in the one place. It’s highly personalised.

Is it a 1-1 grind?

Yes, it will feel like a 1-1 class. Students only interact with and engage with the tutor.

The tutor can interact with everyone in the class and make sure each child is engaged.

Do you follow the school curriculum?

A specific curriculum is made out for each class/year. We always start with Algebra for our Secondary School students, as this is their biggest challenge. We focus on problem-solving and the basics of numbers for our Primary School students. Our curriculum is made by qualified primary and secondary school teachers and state examiners.

Class duration?

Our classes are 45 to 50 minutes long.

Is it on Zoom?

Yes, all classes are on Zoom.

Class requirements?

All you need is a piece of paper, a pen and ideally a laptop, iPad or phone.

I really struggled with Maths in school. I hated being lectured to. I was lost in class.

In 2020, I set up Breakthrough Maths to help others solve the problems I had experienced.

We have had an amazing journey. We have gone from 8 students per week to over 3,000 per week. We have featured on the Irish Times, on The Pat Kenny show and even the 2 Johnny’s.

Maths is a skill. With practice, it becomes easier and easier to understand. A relatable, engaging tutor is what makes a difference.
